I've ran into two so far and I have only played the game for less than a month! I'd whine more about it but I'm raking in the bells and I can also order the real painting through Nook :3.

Even they say there's no absolute way of knowing if the painting is real or not ._. If anything it's just one of Redd's Quirks.

Just the other week infact Redd gave me that same expression and the painting turned out to be real anyway. As I mentioned a few posts above, even if the painting is forged I can always obtain the real one through Nook's catalogue. Waste of bells? Hell yes! X3

It's probably the luck. But I haven't played it in a while, and got bored with it.

I honestly thought it needed more sparkle! But then I quickly realized everyone would be blinded by its awesomeness.

I had a very generous friend who gave me the paintings I was missing. She only had to order them from Nook. I hope you have some cool friends to play with over the WiFi connection. That's what made that game so fun. Just be careful there are real people out there to scam you. Redd does it as part of the game but there are some nasty people out there. Some of them are game hackers too.

Lucky for me I know a few friends that wouldn't rip me off =p. I think I'm pretty safe as far as getting hacked goes. Plus I have no desire to meet random people to trade for items I'm looking for.

(I honestly can't see the point in hacking a game like animal crossing. Like you said, having friends to play along with you is what makes the game so fun.)

Actually most hackers hack because they are bad people and want to ruin the game for you. There's a trick they know which is planting a building in front of your exit and then asking you to save before you see what they did. There's other tricks that are nasty too. Nothing bad ever happened to me though. I choose my friends wisely. I really only let close friends actually enter my town. Only one stranger entered and he ran through a flower bed of rare flowers (black roses) and that was the first and last time I let a stranger in. Black Roses are hard to grow.

Redd's definitely a pain in the rump with the pics, bt aside from trading with people, this is like the only other way to get paintings! Am about halfway through with getting my art gallery filled up with Blathers!
