This is both a literal and metaphorical take on the phrase "Heart of Gold". I thank Florence for creating this new piece of lore for Mataur; as seen in the piece, he is holding a heart of gold. The Heart of Gold is a cursed piece that turned him from Francis, a thief wusky from the streets into the monster Mataur. Metaphorically, Mataur does indeed have a heart of gold that is crowded by many feelings of resentment, anger and hopelessness from years of childhood trauma and tragedy. Something Drohan hopes to help uncover.
