A remix of the track "TYRIAN: The Song" from the game, Tyrian. (The track is named that because there's also a track called "TYRIAN: The Level" if I recall correctly).
I've actually had this done for a good few weeks, I just never got around to converting and uploading or adding any final polish. Ah well.
Done in LMMS as always. OpenTyrian can be obtained here: http://code.google.com/p/opentyrian/ and builds exist for Windows, OS X, Linux, Symbian phones, many games consoles and more!

Pretty cool.
Tyrian, one of the best shooters of the 90s! I always thought that the "Tyrian" theme was the "bright sounding" tune from Level 1 ...
Do you remember Apogee Software's "Stargunner?" That game had some KICKIN' epic tunage in it!
Also, in regards to the game this mix is from =u_u=...

As I stated in the description, there are two tracks with Tyrian in the title: "TYRIAN: The Song", which lays on the title screen and is the main theme, and then there's "TYRIAN: The Level", which, as it's name suggests, is the theme of Level 1 of Chapter 1: Tyrian... <_<;
Lol, I temembered that a little late after replying, lol, =P
I used to own the "shareware" version of this game and mess around with the .EXE file that let you see that colorful GUI while cycling through the tunes, dude. ...
Also, you gotta have a bit of years on you (or be a just plain lucky young guy who's got access to some older guy's old stuff, maybe) to have even HEARD of Tyrian to begin with, lol.
I'm gonna comment you on your most recent journal now...
I too believe that "tl;dr" (Too Long, Didn't Read) is bullshit.

A mental note to record:I too believe that "tl;dr" (Too Long, Didn't Read) is bullshit.
I'm a bit of both. I've always loved some of the older games and whilst everyone else was growing up with their Playstations and their N64s I was playing on NES,SNES and Megadrive games XD
I have a bit of a love for retro games and people often say I was born into the wrong time period. If I recall I played a version of Tyrian a good few years ago but forgot about it until I was recommended OpenTyrian over a year ago. I grabbed the source, compiled it and played for a long time :P It's a great game although I haven't played it in a while now.
And yeah, the jukebox is pretty cool. Also, I have Tyrian on both my laptop and on my phone (and on my Wii too if I felt like it) ;)

Maybe so...^^
...but Shigero Miyamoto is on to youuu, and always makes sure that the Wii gets new "updates" to throw off all the software pirates.
I'm just fine playing authentic versions of older games that I bought online via a wireless connection to the "Wii Shop Channel..."
...with its "Come ooonnn...-you know you wanna buy something" theme music. (Lulz. )

And I'm just fine playing my authentic games. Last I checked I wasn't a software pirate, still own lots of old games or retro game collections on modern consoles and despite sometimes already owning the game on the original system I still buy it on virtual console. And I am using homebrew to play authentic open-source and freeware games so I'm not voiding anything except the warranty that ended ages ago.
It would be nice if some of their more recent updates actually did something to allow new features rather than just try to reduce piracy by crushing homebrew.

I KNOW! I keep on thinking that they could add the functionality of, duhrr...—USB?!?! You just KNOW that they could add a little "flash drive icon" in the lower right of the Wii Main Menu, buuut I guess it's not a really important matter that Nintendo actually makes SIGNIFICANT USE of the features that their precious system boasts, now is it?
At least those two useless ports can recharge this iPod... :V

Which is another reason why I turn to homebrew (besides the fact that I just like tinkering with stuff :3), it's possible for me to use my USB hard drive to load music and videos, to allow the Wii some limited ability to play DVD videos, and much more. If I really wanted to I could put a Wii Linux Distro onto either USB or SD and boot a whole OS, effectively turning the Wii into a weak, under-powered home computer as well as game console and media centre.
A lot of this stuff such as DVD playback and even an improvement to the Wii's own software to improve USB transfer speeds were made quite a while ago too, I think we've had DVD playback (granted it isn't that good and doesn't work with quite a few DVDs) for a few years now and yet Nintendo still haven't brought anything major with their updates.

Well, considering that none of the things I listed cost me anything to do, the fact that I already have an mp3/video player, a pretty cool phone, some handhelds (all of which more than satisfy my portable needs) and how I have neither the money nor desire for Apple products...*shrugs*
I think overall my decisions (mostly use laptop or PS2 for DVDs, use a cheaper but still good portable mp3/video player, stick to my old DS rather than get a lite, DSi or XL, get a cheap contract phone that I can do some cool stuff with but is mostly a phone, etc) have been the best for me both financially and in terms of what I prefer. If I had an iPad I'd rarely use it, I have no need for it.

Thanks, but I didn't play this, I'm one of those modern-day non-musicians who does their work through software rather than with real instruments. Some people really don't like that and look down on such music, but hey, I'm fine with that, I don't consider myself to be a musician; I just do this in my free times sometimes for the heck of it. Once upon a time I was a musician, but that was many years ago...
(I think I mentioned that I used a program called in LMMS in the description, I normally do)
