Growing up in a rougher part of the lakeside, Vivian got a lot of unwanted attention, which led to her learning to fight. When she first started, the swan kept getting paired with male fighters who were less interested in sparring and more interested in completely beating her, despite her trying to talk things out. For them, it would just be too embarrassing to lose to a "girl". The head coach at the time didn't reign in the other fighters, and he'd spend more time getting them ready for competition, often relegating her to doing a lot of conditioning and drills with the other coaches.
It was not all a waste. Eventually she found a more supportive gym, and Vivian's previous training did make her surprisingly durable. Camille and her ended up being good sparring partners for each other, controlling the intensity of their rounds and being about the same weight to keep things even. He needed practice against tall opponents with good head movement, to learn to work inside more, and the swan needed practice working on the outside against high pressure opponents. So they are good friends now and visit each other from time to time, sometimes to spar, as they are about to do outside.
Her nickname, "The Razor", was given because much to the surprise of her opponents, she hits hard enough to almost always open up a cut on the face during actual bouts, which she does with relish (especially with the guys). Vivian and Camille haven't fought each other yet, but they often (politely) talk about pummeling each other senseless when the day comes.
Anyway, they'll probably go see a movie later.
I usually heavily reference actual fights when I draw, but I wanted something more "cartoon-y" for this piece. (Drawing on the muscles very prominently may take away from that a bit.) I wanted another go at drawing a long necked bird as well, though trying arm/wing feathers again will be for another day. I also don't draw a lot of female characters, but I'm pretty happy with how Vivian came out. Drawing a landscape background was also a nice change of pace.
I'd like to do another piece with the swan, though I don't have a set opponent in mind, maybe another bird like a cassowary or a rooster or goose again. Of course, Camille could face off with Vivian, though I don't know who would win. If you're rooting for someone in particular, feel free to comment.
