As productive as my dear
Sanguis Venator has been with Val, producing no less than 3 little hatchlings (so far!), it was only a question of time before Lily had one too. A little over a year ago, on April 13th 2020, Solis followed Lily to her home for the first time. Until then, Lily had always been a bit awkward and withdrawn, always coming to Solis and staying at his place. But now she got to take him home to her place, her home, where she belongs.
He found himself on a wonderful warm beach with pearl white sand, basking in sunlight. Blue and teal waters rushed against it in crashing waves with white foam. Palm trees dotted the area more and more densely until it formed a small jungle. The air was filled with the fresh salty breeze of the sea, smells from many exotic flowers and fruits; and the sound of thousands birds and insects. He was in the Caribbean.
She showed him around the jungle, picking fruits for a feast for him. There were chilis, bell peppers, lime, coconuts, sugarcanes, mangos and much much more. From the sea she swam out to a little reef where she collected her arms full of fish, cockles, mussles, squids and crabs. After a wonderful meal and a long day exploring and basking in the sunlight, the two snuggled around in the sand, wrestling playfully and in the end made love. And that night, he gave her an egg.
She laid it on June 4th and carefully guarded over it for a long time. It wasn't until November 13th-14th when it finally hatched and revealed a beautiful little green drake with golden sparkles in his scales and large fins. Neither Lily or Solis could come up with a good name for the little drake, so for the meantime he got nicknamed after Lily's favourite thing in the world: Mango. She carried him with her in her wings wherever she went, being very protective of the little bugger while showing him how to swim, how to fetch crabs, and how to crack them open. How to pick and peel mango and other fruits. It turns out he was just a big a fan of mango as his mother, and was a natural swimmer. He shot through the waters like a little Barracuda, with such grace and excellence that he almost put his mother to shame.
Lily had never grown up with the book series Wings of Fire, but Solis had. She had often helped Solis and Valcyrie to read and act out the books for Val's hatchlings, and she had come to adore the series herself. So one day she decided that maybe her sons name didn't have to be something super-fancy. Val had named all hers after legends and stars, but Lily didn't need that. Just as her own name was simply Lily, named after the white water lilies her father loved, she picked up her little darling and looked at him in the eyes. He almost looked like a Seawing with his colours and golden spots, so why not give him a Seawing name? Paying homage to one of her favourite book series and her home in one go, as well as the name had a ring of wealth and beauty to it. She smiled brightly at him.
"Reef! Your name is Reef! I'll call you Reef!" she exclaimed and held him up in the sunlight.
The little drake bubbled happily and wiggled in his mothers paws, smiling brightly down at her and managed to squeak out "Weef!". Lily squeed in delight and hugged him to her chest, wiggling happily for a while before letting him down in the sand. He wiggled away and down into the water, shooting about with a big smile, chasing little fish around. Lily slowly walked down into the water after him, almost glowing with happiness. She watched him catch a crab and press his thumb claws into it to pull it out of its shell. He learned so fast, and she was so proud of him.
She knew that no matter what happened, she would always be proud of him and always love him. He had his mothers heart in his little paws and held it tight. And Lily couldn't be happier.
This is a very sweet pic of Lily holding her dear little hatchling Reef. A wonderful YCH I managed to snatch from
