Rifts: Alex "Steel" Farscape, Coalition SAMAS Pilot
The second of Rifts characters I made to keep my mind sharp. This one was inspired from all the mobile suit animes I've seen in the past.
There is a special branch of Coalition Soldiers who specialize in piloting power armor and some of the deadlier vehicles of the Coalition Army. One such unit are the SAMAS Pilots. These flying suits marked with Death helmets are the most infamous Power Armors of North America, next to the Glitter Boys.
Alex was a man born the burbs of Chi-Town. He joined the Coalition Army to support his widowed mother and became renowned for his campaigns in exterminating Xiticix Nests gather along the borders of Chi-Town. His reputation soon earned him the right to serve under Major Duncan of the 122nd Armored Division stationed at Odessa Station. There he served as aerial support for the 76th Prairie Fox Company. Randolph had worked alongside him on many occassions. The two are best friends.
During his time in Odessa, however, he came across a human farmer living on the edge of Coalition territory by the name of Emma. Feeling sorry for her, he brought her supplies from the base and she taught him how to read. The Coalition States purposefully rescinds the talent of reading to their citizens to keep them stupid and easily controlled. As a misguided patriot, Alex soon came to question the propaganda given to him by his peers. Desiring to find his own answers, Alex left Odessa to try and discover the truth of the real going ons of the world. He's been last seen wandering the outskirts of New Mexico.
Alex gets his nickname "Steel" from the large double-edged sword he wields when wearing his SAMAS Power Armor. Only when he has this on can he actually wield it effectively. Despite this unnerving name, Alex is actually a fair and respectable soul, always wanting to do the right thing for the sake of good, and never breaking his word. This kind of soldier may very well be the future for the Coalition States.
