I’ve talked here and there about my current D&D group, which was my second foray into attempting D&D at all, and my first one to go beyond a session or so. Our first campaign, Tomb of Annihilation, ran for 69 sessions (nice), from January of 2019 to July of 2020. We started with five players and since none of us actually talked to anybody else about our characters in advance, four of the five ended up with names starting with A—wood elf monk Aelar, half-elf fighter Alexus, aasimar cleric Amara, human mage Aris, and the odd man out dragonborn paladin Balasar. Through the course of the campaign one player dropped out and the four of us who remained all rolled a second character for various reasons; not a single character that started in that first session was played all the way through to the final (though two of us managed to return to our firsts after the campaign was over).

I’d been recording each of our sessions and wanted a thumbnail for the full playlist—a few of the earlier episodes had one-off thumbnails, but I wanted something for/with the whole group. I’d like to do something similar for our second campaign, but it’s currently ongoing so who knows how many characters we’ll cycle through before it’s done, heh.

Balasar didn't make it to the end of the Tomb (his player rolled that edgelord anime orc in the background to finish out the campaign with, but decided not to continue on into our second campaign) so I'm out of anthropomorphic characters of friends to practice on, but if my character dies the next one in reserve is most likely going to be a tabaxi or dragonborn also, so... it's weird to be like "yes, please die character I am emotionally invested in, so I can draw more furries for A Reason instead of just doing it!" but that's kinda where my head's at atm, haha.
