God will people stop defending him? It's one thing for Brittany Spears, Paris Hilton, or Lindsey Lohan to get sympathy because their mistakes were caused by the pressures of being forced into the media by their greedy parents. Plus I know it's difficult to defend Michael Richards for his racists remarks, but you're in a comedy club being an asshole to the guy on stage. Black or White, you're going to get insulted for giving the man on stage shit (the guy was under pressure).
Mel Gibson is a racists SOB, who needs to take a serious vacation away from the world (and possibly end up like Hemmingway as a result, but still). This man doesn't deserve our pity cause he hasn't done anything to redeem himself. He doesn't give to inner city communities, he doesn't show intent to get over his abusive behaviour, and makes shit moives like The Passion. I don't give a shit how popular or talented the guy is, you don't treat the mother of your baby like that. I'm sure this is an OJ Simpson level of relationship issues.
I'm sick of these arrogant celebrities with money who can't handle their real lives and come on TV expecting us to forgive them every time they fuck up. They're so caught up in the worlds they play in their films, or their real world is so incredibly fake they don't know how to deal with this shit outside of drinking and pill popping themselves to death. I made a big rant about how I don't do shit to avoid real life, but these guys have the money, the popularity, and support from millions of blind fans. Yes the paparazzi are out there but not all of them are looking for dirt. If you're dog fighting or doing things that could kill you, maybe they need to be stalking you, so many other people could be so lucky to be cared about.
Dot is a smart girl who knows when a man is toxic and vile, but getting over the things you love is hard. This could be the ultimate sign of your childhood being destroyed. Much like watching Ren and Stimpy Adult Party, or the Star Wars prequels, it's hard to handle the way people destroy their own work, and celebrities destroy themselves.

Lohan went to jail I think. It's a slap on the wrist, but everyone is fathoming on how she'll feel having to WAKE UP EARLY OMG, or NOT EAT GOURMET MEALS! HOW HORRIBLE!

I don't think Mel is particularly racist though. After hearing that phone call (and quotes of his drunken Jew-ramble), I think he's just an incredibly hateful, selfish, heartless slimebag of a person. Saying the N word is just one small facet of his assholishness. I can't imagine how he must treat people who work for him. (Plus the fact that he seems to enjoy being tortured in his movies, usually to death, says oodles about his sex life...)
I also wanted to thank you for defending Michael Richards. I honestly never thought of him as a racist. He got pushed too far with some hecklers, and he thought it'd be funny to out-nasty them. He was trying to cross the line twice, and it backfired on him badly. It was dumb and thoughtless, absolutely. But I didn't get the sense that he actually thinks all black people are an inferior race.
I'm not comfortable with how much the word 'racist' is thrown around in the media these days. Racism literally means thinking one race is superior to another. It doesn't mean accidentally blurting something offensive in a moment of stupidity. And I don't like how we make it this unforgivable sin. Like, Michael Richards will forever be known as 'that guy who said THAT WORD on stage'. We will NEVER completely forgive him for that. But when Mel Gibson went on his whole Jew-hatin' rant, I felt like I was the only person in the world who cared more that he had been DRIVING DRUNK. I happen to see that as being a worse crime than saying some stupid shit. We forgive celebrity drunk driving all the time, and worse. Martin Lawrence beat his wife, Dr. Dre smacked the shit out of a female reporter, Tim Allen was caught with a pound and a half of coke at an airport... All is forgiven! But say that one word and you're forever branded. I don't get it. Do I even have to mention that Michel Vick is playing football again?
I don't think we're honest about race in this country, and I think we have severely skewed priorities about it. The criminal justice system is overwhelmingly biased towards black people, but we care less about that than when some celebrity says a WORD. We really ought to stop giving so much power to that goddam word. Like JK Rowling said, "Fear of a name increases fear of the thing itself." The more we focus on that one word, the less we do anything about actual racism; which there's still plenty of in this country.

Actually.. i find suspicious the fact that there's a new "racist" declaration like every week, i think i read a whole months about his declarations on local newspaper, and all them was based in a single and private discussion between him and his ex... now, i think we all said something "racist" without thinking about that too much once in our lifes.. i find ridiculous the fact to make 4 headlines on a newspaper based on a single callphone, a private moment where emotions can make you say "i hate you and i want you to die" (things like that, of course you'ren't serious, but that's the example of what people say on discussions) ...now, is not like i'm saying he IS not racist, maybe he is, but the fact that the press use a single callphone as argument for 4 headlines (this month i mean... yeah, i know he said other things on the past) makes me think theres a campain with a purpose behind this
