This is actually the same elf as the one in the treasure hunter picture I posted a while back. I don't generaly have her armed with a bow, since bows take a fair bit of strength to use, and that quiver takes up a lot of space. She's usually armed with a blowgun, since that takes up about the same space as an unstrung bow, and the projectiles are a lot smaller.
That being said, I wanted to draw this, and I liked how it turned out, so I guess she knows how to use a bow. She just never had much use for one.

A beautiful piece... but her thumb should be somewhat below the arrow rather than above. An arrow's feathers may seem soft, but they can do quite a bit of damage to exposed skin at speed. This is the best picture I've found to illustrate a grip on a bow without an arrow rest (for future reference): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Brazilarcher.jpg Hope it comes in handy. ^.^
THANK you! I knew her bow grip looked off, but I was having a heck of a time finding reference that showed it from this side. I think I may have just not been typing the right things into Google.
I was mostly preoccupied with trying to get the arm holding the arrow nocked to look right, since the LAST time I drew a pose like this, someone I showed it to told me I'd drawn that part wrong.
Part of my problem is that it's been a good long while since I went anywhere near a bow and arrows.

I can shoot a bow myself. Hitting the target... well, that's another matter entirely. >.>
Oh, I also forgot to point out... the arrow should be on the other side of the bow too, but I'm sure you saw that in the picture. It takes much longer to load through the bow and the arrow is much harder to aim since the bow actually tends to block the aim point.
