Back in December 2020, I started doing character design practice as a way for me to shake out of an art block and to warm up to doing commissions. Eventually my mind went to doing a tactical rpg ala Shining Force, Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy Tactics etc, with furry characters.

I'd like to try and make it some day, but for the time being, here are the character designs I've been making on the weekends for fun!

Oh no, its another big tanook!

What can I say, they are fun to draw! I didn't really have a concept in mind for this one, more so the idea of a more buffer looking tanuki with a cool hat! I liked the idea of doing an east meets west infusion of the character by having them be a gunslinger but I ultimately chose to get rid of the guns and instead focused on implying more tanuki magic.

I liked the idea of him being a tank/defender that uses his magic to block and dodge attacks. A big ol' fuzzy protector in the same line as the other tanukis!
