Ever since Bowser began making the consumption of cattle steroids mandatory for his troops, they seem to have become much more sluggish than one would hope. Even the once fit Hammer Brother seems to now be nothing more than a Hammer Blob.

Perhaps so, but King Koopa might've either
a) required them to eat food laced with cattle steroids as well, or
b) decided that lakitus are better suited throwing other things at Mario. Bob-ombs, perhaps? Or maybe they can just float around uselessly with a 1-up mushroom on the end of a fishing pole like they sometimes like to do...
