A commission for a custom homebrew starfinder game where my character is a Reptile anthro who is a witchwarper (think sci fi wizard) who got his powers after treasure hunting a artifact of a old alien race left behind from one called Azath. It blew up in his face and gave him the ability to change reality or pull from different realities for his spells through what he calls 'rifts' that float by him that he can manipulate as part of his power. These powers come at cost that he is no longer anchored to this reality and that he might lose himself at some point.

Searching...and here she points to a scar in your palm. one that formed when Azath's machine blew up in your face, granting you your powers your fate line has been recut, scattering and intermingling with the other lines. Your future is twisted...your...futures are twisted" She furrows her brow

"You must find the golden path amongst the tangle. Or else...you will be lost"

Thus the golden ribbon he clings to is what keeps him from sinking into the water while the other ribbons lead off to different 'rifts' that lead him away from the golden path. Meanwhile in the murky water passed the protective barrier of the golden halo around him is a darkness that lurks below...
