Spyro - Extra Character Designs
posted 5 years ago Manic Organic Mechanic Satanic | Support me with Shinies!
I've decided to tackle the first Spyro game ever made and reinterpret it as if it were going to have a modern day "live action" (read: hyperrealistically animated) film adaptation. We can all sleep easy knowing this will never happen, right? Right?
These two characters designs are ones I liked enough not to throw away, but that I didn't have time to complete within a reasonable window of time. That said, I still gave them a wee bit of rendering so as to make them presentable, and you can see that the 3D models used for their shading were already in place.
I tried to go for different approaches with these two. I've never been sure what Shemp was supposed to be, and I guess my mind began wandering to poultry when I began adding in all those feathers he's got. Likewise, I've always been a little confused by Jacques' design. It's certainly unique, charming even, but it feels like it has the least focus out of everybody else's. He's a jack-in-the-box AND a subspecies of fairy AND a monster and and and. So I trimmed his wings and made him an offshoot of The Mask (the comics, not the Jim Carrey movie.) Regardless, these two are faves of mine. Their battles are the absolute weakest, but they're so quirky and strange that I can't not like them.
