Spyro - Metalhead Character Design
I've decided to tackle the first Spyro game ever made and reinterpret it as if it were going to have a modern day "live action" (read: hyperrealistically animated) film adaptation. We can all sleep easy knowing this will never happen, right? Right?
THIS guy right here is my favorite boss from the first game. Not only is his actual boss battle the most solid out of the meager offerings we were given at the time, but he's just so cool. How could you not love a giant heavy metal/punk robot who shoots lazers and falls to pieces once you best him in combat? Few things measure up to such raw badassery.
I can't help but feel like I coulda done more with Metalhead, but I decided to settle with this design because I felt it wasn't too shabby. I added very little to the heavy metal aesthetic, I admit; I feel like metal fans are just itching to call me a poser for giving him some spiked leather and the implication of a vest and calling that metal attire. But that wasn't so much my focus as his being a machine was. As you can tell in the image text, he's a creation of Gnasty Gnorc's, and I can't imagine Gnasty using pristine new components and unrusted sheets of steel to make his next magical, disposable guard dog.
