urZah the Ritual Guardian, from the Jim Henson film the Dark Crystal; He was the Mystic counterpart of the Skeksis Ritual Master, skekZok, & was the first Mystic to appear on screen in the film, holding his order's ceremony of the Suns just before they called out for Jen.
In the film, he led the Surviving Mystics on their Pilgrimage back to the Castle once the Shard began to call for them to return. He would had been the Mystic with the most scenes and lines in the film: In the original workprint of the film (which was on YouTube for sometime before been taken down) showed urZah appearing from behind Jen while playing his flute, telling him that his Dying Master was calling for him; and in the Deleted Funeral Scene, he tells Jen about his quest and the consequences if he were to fail. He was the only Mystic whose name (of either Skeksis or Mystics) was ever given, this sequence was removed from the final cut, though his name is reveal in the Ending Credits.
While been the most talkative of the Mystics, urZah spoke only in riddles; his Body (not just the face) was fully encompassed of spirals as result of deep meditation. He was skilled in Sand Painting to compose Prophecies and conduits of Energy through the Master Time Spiral combing and brushing the grains of amethyst, opal, agate, onyx, and chalcedony while the other Mystics chant. Interestingly, he disliked music, considering it a distraction, in particular when compose by Wind Instruments, believing it to enslaved air. Like the rest of the Mystics, he helped raise Jen, and taught him the value of Listening.
Through the age of Division, he kept a close friendship with urSu the Master, as the two were the most meditative of the Mystics, and called him a Dear Friend during his Funeral. Mirroring their counterparts, urZah likely held close counsel to urSu, just as skekZok did by retaining the ear and Counsel of skekSo.
In the end, he would be one of the Eight Surviving pairs to reunite with his counterpart when Jen restored the Crystal to its trueself; then, as ZokZah the urSkek, departed Thra leaving the Crystal to Jen and Kira.
However, in the Comic Power of the Dark Crystal (taking place 100 Thrine after the events of the movie), a Fireling named Thurma cracked the Crystal, causing a second urSkek division, in a desperate attempt to save her home, bringing urZah back into existence with the other Skeksis and Mystics. During the events of the story, he kept the Mystics in line to not take action, as the Mystics ways are those of reflection, not aggression; indicating he was an adherent to urSu's non intervention policy. In the end, When the Crystal was restored (Chamberlain/Chanter having died) urZah and the others rejoined with their Skeksis and left Thra with a rejuvenated Jen, Kira and Fizzgig.
