This one was really difficult to redesign- I was very torn on whether I wanted to keep the raw crystal look (even though that's not really what a raw ruby looks like) or change it. Obvious I chose to draw a traditional cut, but tried to spice up the chain.

I had somewhere a raw ruby that I liked to show people. (My great gpa was a geologist, I have some interesting stuff) Because its so bland, and kinda ugly as its not polished, or attractively extracted. Like it looks like some junky rock because its not cracked or anything to really show what is in the specimen but one area. I really like raw specimens lol, I have a ton. I like them more than cut stones, because for some reason a lot of the traditional cuts look cheap to me irl XD
But for drawing and painting, specially inking they are so fun and pretty to do.
I really like the way you did the orb looking attack? Looks rad as fuck

Rubies really don't look that special without a polish, but that's what is so fascinating about precious gems- most of them look plain and boring before you put in the work.
Yes, they are so much fun to ink and color!
Thank you! I really struggled with the hatching on the darker bits because I did this on the wrong type of paper.
