RIP Prince Phillip
Prince Phillip, the Duke of Edinburgh, Queen Elizabeth's husband of almost 74 years. The longest living British Royal consort. Falling shy of a century mark for his birthday.
Born into Greek/Danish royalty, Phillip joined the Royal Navy in 1939 and served with distinction in WW2. Even saving his ship from a Luftwaffe night attack by setting a raft with smoke pots on it to draw attention away from the ship. The Germans instead attacked the raft.
The Duke was always by the Queens side and put up with the slings and arrows against them by the press and media. The Queen calling him "Her constant strength and guild" Plus apparently he had a down to earth style as well, plus being a painter and even cartoonist. many of his works hang in the various castles.
Like him or hate him, he was a part of British history.
