Mazaku was eager to get his order from Isaac, and wanted to chat with him some, which was why he biked over a bit early to the baker’s house. As he flipped open the kickstand, he gaped at the front yard, seeing dozens of desserts sitting in tuppaware, plates and bowls. This roo was terribly busy! Hopefully, he wasn’t going to be interrupting anything important.
He moved up to the front, ringing the doorbell. When it opened, he was expecting to find the same old roo that he always knew. Orange, big ears. An even bigger tail.
What he didn’t expect was to be greeted with a squeal of joy and grappled into a belly-induced hug. The giant tubby roo had pulled him inside before he managed to say hello.
“Ah, it’s so good to see you Maz!” Isaac parted from him, beaming.
“Uh… yeah!” Maz stammered, looking down at the large gut stemming from Isaac’s middle. “I wanted to come by early and chat with you before my order is done,”
Isaac nodded. “It’s still in the oven, but we can hang out back if you’d like!” He turned around and started to pad through the living room.
As Maz followed, he eyed Isaac up and down. He was wearing the chef’s hat, and some shorts that looked far too tight – parts of the seams had popped off, struggling to contain his bulging thighs. He wasn’t wearing a shirt, completely exposing a set of moobs and a gargantuan round belly, both covered in soft cream-colored fur.
Isaac opened the door out to the porch. He struggled to walk through, just clearing the door frame. Maz tagged after him.
It was a very pleasant fall evening. The sun had recently set, leaving behind bands of yellows and blues, which morphed into the indigo night sky. The first of the brightest stars had started to become visible, accompanied by dark cumulus clouds.
The porch was also covered in desserts. Maz could eye an impressive double cake splayed out on a folding table.
“So… you’ve been busy, I see,” Maz looks over to Isaac.
The roo nods proudly. “I may need to start working in an actual bakery or store soon! This is great, but I don’t know if I have the space in my home for all of this,” he gestures to all the desserts surrounding him.”
“Right. Anyways, do you know when my order will be done?”
Isaac rubs his chin. “I should probably check the oven. If it’s baked through all the way, I can get it cooled and frosted within the next hour.”
He starts to move towards the porch door, but stops himself, suddenly looking around the backyard. “Now, let’s see… where did I put my apron?”
“Apron?” Maz repeated.
“Yeah. It’s this silky soft apron that I always wear when I bake.” He said, stepping out into the grass to peer though the cakes and pies.
“Must be pretty important if you’re looking around for it that much, eh?” Maz chuckled, noting the vast variety of all the treats.
“It is! It was given to me a long time ago, by someone who believed in me,” Isaac responded, starting to lift up some of the trays, thinking that it may be hiding under one of them.
Maz paused. “Who gifted this apron to you?”
“I dunno, the box never came with a return address or a name.” Isaac huffed in frustration as he continued his fruitless search.
Maz was about to respond when his eyes fell down on the apron, hanging on the back rest of a porch chair. He snatched it up, flipping it over to examine it. The smock looked quite worn, but the material was surprisingly soft to the touch. After scanning it, he spotted a small tag near the hem: Cal’s Confections, it read.
Maz eye’s widened as everything in his head clicked into place. The apron. Isaac’s newfound weight. It all made sense.
“Oh! You found it! Thanks!” Isaac’s sudden voice caused Maz to jump. He looked over at the plump roo, lumbering toward him. He stepped back, still holding the apron.
“…Maz? What’s going on?” Isaac’s ears drooped slightly, as he moved onto the porch deck.
“Isaac, where are the waist straps on this thing?” the dragon asked.
“Oh, they tore off. I was going to sew on some more straps, but I just haven’t gotten around to it yet.”
“Why did they tear off?” Maz implored.
That made Isaac stop. “Because it… shrunk?” He answered hesitantly.
“Along with your clothes? Where’s your shirt?”
“Oh, those DEFINITELY shrunk! I had a new setting on my dryer that I wanted to try out, an-“
Maz shook his head. “Isaac, your shirts didn’t shrink.”
Isaac let out a huff. “Then how do you explain why I couldn’t fit int-EEEP!” Isaac looked down at himself and let out a squeak before he could finish his thought. His eyebrows shot up, his ears splaying out as he looked at himself, truly, for the first time in months.
Maz bit his lip. This was going to take a moment to process. He could tell.
For a bit Isaac looked pale, doing nothing but just stand there and stare at his crest of a belly. Then, whimpering, he started to press down on the pudge with a hand. It was warm and plush, and Isaac could feel a soft gurgle roil up from its center. He looked over his shoulder to see his massive haunches, equipped with a tail that was more like a slug. He lifted the giant tail up slightly, then let it fall back to the ground, giving a hearty slap against the porch deck.
He looked back at his belly, still huge, massive, and round. He felt it with his hands for a little longer, the pale color of his face being replaced with a bright red. His hat almost comically drooped to fit his absolute embarrassment.
“But… how?” He finally stammered.
“I know how,” Maz walked up and hung the apron around his neck, making sure apron covered as much of that belly as it could before patting it down. “Feel anything?”
Isaac focused on his body. At first, nothing. Then, like he had always remembered, a warm buzz pooled in the center of his stomach. It felt stronger this time – as if he had just drunk a large steaming cup of hot chocolate.
“I-I feel something,” he said, looking down at the derg.
Maz nodded. “Magically infused apron. Probably makes anything you eat become super fattening,” He takes off the apron, and the pleasant warm buzz fades away from the roo’s tummy.
“But… who would do such a thing? Why would someone give me such an apron?” Isaac asked, looking back down at his belly, exposed once again in the porchlight.
“Like you said, I think he believed in you,” Maz folded his arms. “Callum is sweet like that. Of course, he tends to bring weight into the whole matter.”
“Callum…” Isaac repeated, now inspecting his moobs in thought.
For a moment, Maz thought Isaac was angry. But when Isaac looked up to him again, he was smiling.
“I got to where I was in baking because of the apron, Maz. I… don’t think I would have gotten to this point without him, y’know?” His eyes shining with tears.
“Nor would you have torn through all of your clothes,” Maz snickered, but regained his composure. “But yeah, you’ve definitely gotten the hang of it all, big guy.”
Isaac sniffed, moving his way back into the house. “Let’s get your order finished up, then I’ll figure out a way to thank him.”
“Why do I feel like that includes getting some payback?” Maz smiled, tagging after the roo as they move inside.
