You have a lot of potential and identity as an artist.
Try not to let that slip away with adherence to group ideals via YCHs, because I think you can accomplish and make much more money just by simply expressing yourself to the fullest.
These are just the thoughts of another wandering fool.

Oh man, it's so tough for me
I don't know what's happening to me when I do my commercial artworks.
I just kinda get paralyzed by fear, by letting down my commissioners. And I think that it's pretty obvioius for everyone , for example, my pfp has such a good, relaxed gesture and now almost every picture is stiff.
It feels impossible to relax when I draw for people who expects the same quality as an original...

It's good that I haven't moved out yet, cause if did I would probably never sleep out of fear of not being able to pay the bills.

Btw, I find great joy in conceptualizing my YCH's! I personally feel it's much more creative and not so generic.

People want to see their character expressed differently. Quality is subjective and at the mercy of supply and demand. For example I make about $100 per commission because there is demand for my work. If a commissioner is rude to you then there's always an ocean more who would appreciate any art from you.

What I'm saying is, it's easy to fall prey to the mediocrity machine by conforming to the fear that masses impose upon you.
Then you begin churning out samey art as what the popufurs dictate and your very soul slips away. It happens like clockwork with artists.
Just be mindful that there's always an audience waiting for you; they just need to be found.
