HTTYD: Summer Nights and Lovely Sights Wallpaper
I wanted to a) work on a wallpaper design and b) painting some fireflies/summer twilighty scene! Then I realized I wanted a lazing Hiccup as well. There's nothing more better than enjoying long summer nights with your best friend amirite?

How could it get any better than that.. So perfect.
If you're going for wallpaper pics, then definitely choose a much wider shot next time. It's absolutely beautiful, but seeing more of Toothless' body, more of the hill, and definitely way, way more of the sky would've really helped.
With that said, I'm still setting it as my wallpaper right now, anyway. x3

haha I wanted a close up scene actually. I like those for my wallpapers because I have a very empty desktop with a few folders and I like seeing smaller details, like Hic's armor or Tooth's scars, the sky/hill view didn't interest me in rendering this time. However it looks like it's not near the size in terms of resolution I picked?? I went with 1920x1080 I thought but it's also very late at night and I'm tired @n@
Hmm.. I'll just do an edit for myself, then. No biggie. ^^ Same here. In fact, I hide all desktop icons outright so there's nothing but the background to look at. I suppose it's just the fact that my monitor is a 48 inch, 4k tv that sits right in front of me, so having it this zoomed in feels way too close. (Effortlessly upscaled the image to 4k using Waifu2x, by the way. Highly recommended! Turned it into a live wallpaper with Wallpaper Engine, too. So it has interactable fireflies and animated shooting stars! Such a perfect desktop pic.)
FurAffinity scales down images to a preset size, but you can circumvent this if you go to "Change Submission File" right underneath the image, and then just post the same thing again. It'll display in full size the second time.

The edits to the stars and fireflies sound interesting! Yeah, my monitor is...not that. It's two old ass HPs about 22in, that think 4k is a distance humans run. As for editing the scene, you don't mean extending the canvas and painting onto to it, do you? Did you just mean adding the cute little animation effects?
Ahh, yes, I'd forgotten that about FA. Usually I'm positing things that I want to be low reso anyway, like jpegs and the like. Was always taught to upload low resos to keep art thieves discouraged unless necessary, never lost that instinct.

No no, I legit mean expanding the canvas to have the "camera" zoomed out more. It'll be tough, but I can do it. I'm quite good at edits, actually. It'll be my most ambitious project yet, but it sounds like fun! Of course, I will not be posting it anywhere or giving it to any friends. Just for my own computer background because I love it so much. ^^
Yeah. Most big artists still do that, but I really really don't see the point, personally. Hence why ALL of my pics are 4k or greater. Thieves will be thieves, so the way I see it, if they're gonna do it, which they always will, then whoever sees the stolen piece that they post might as well be treated to a nice high res pic rather than some 480p garbage. *Shrug.* Maybe it's just me and the fact that I've truly come to terms with the fact that life is but a flash of honestly insignificant existence, but I just.. don't give a shit.. at all. I'd much rather focus all my efforts on the people I love and care about, and just live the happiest life I can while I have it. ^^

Ah, I see.
For me it's both an old habit from ye Olden dial up days and a matter of file size to. I also reserve those bigger files for clients and friends who respect me, I love posting work here but almost 90% is for fun and to polish my chops. Freelancing is also how I pay all my bills. And while I agree wholeheartedly on focusing on the wonderful people in your life, IMO loving others starts with loving yourself and your art/craft. Digital art maybe still "low art" to some, but creating lovely things is a way of making existence less of a flash and more of a banquet. Tis human to make art! And passion is how artists grow, not just practice 😉

Oh eff it. Now that it's been my wallpaper for a day and a half, it's perfect the way it is. Can't stop staring at it from across the room when I lay down in my bed. It's so beautiful. ^^
Ah. These are all excellent points, actually. I never really thought about any of these. I'TIS human to make art! Indeedio! XD
Jeez you legitimately do art for a living? I didn't actually think this was possible. Livin' the dream, right there. Lucky. Unless you meant freelancing something else. But even then, freelancing ANYTHING for a living is impressive.

haha I do, yes XD I've been a fulltime freelance illustrator since 2015 when I graduated. I pick up all sorts of part time odd jobs, seasonal, forestry, art teach sub, etc for more munnies. I train dogs and fiddle with cars. I've been phasing some jobs out (except forestry) as my business grows due to demand. I don't mind being the starving artist archtype--I'm much to busy having fun with my job! Making art makes me happy--and I'm lucky to do what I love as my career for sure! It's not easy, but all the best things never are. ;)
