Wheat Pizza
You can sub the wheat flour with regular if you prefer regular dough, I prefer wheat. Also if you use the Quickrise yeast, be sure to check the directions on there!
2 cups warm water
2 Tbsp. yeast (2 of the small packages)
2 tsp. sugar
2 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. olive oil
3 cups wheat flour
3 cups flour
Your choice of sauce, cheese, toppings
Combine water and yeast in a large bowl and let sit for 5 minutes. Stir in the sugar, salt, and oil. Add the wheat flour and mix. Add remaining flour and knead until smooth. Cover with a clean kitchen towel and put in a warm spot to rise for about half an hour. (On cold days or colder areas, place your oven on warm, then turn it off, and put the bowl in there. Leave the light for a bit of warmth.)
This should be enough for 3 large pizzas (Shown in picture are 3 personal sized pizzas made from one of the large balls of dough). Separate the dough into balls and ziplock in separate bags or if using now, cover a clean surface area with flower, roll the dough flat with a rolling pin. Roll it as thin as you'd like. Place your dough on a cookie sheet, cover with whatever type of sauce you prefer (marinara, pesto, alfredo, etc.) add your cheese and other toppings. Bake time will be different depending on how many toppings you place and the thickness of your dough so just make sure to keep an eye on it! :)
Top left is plain marinara with mozzarella.
Top right is salsa with cheddar.
Bottom is olive oil, oregano, basil, garlic, and feta.
I've also made a really awesome thin crust pizza with this. I used one of the large balls of dough, rolled it really thin and cut it in half to make two pizzas. I fried up some ground bison with taco seasonings. I covered the pizza in homemade salsa (tomato, garlic, lime juice, cilantro, and jalapeno ran though a food processor for a bit), and then mushrooms, cheddar cheese, and then the bison on top. It was rather amazing. :)
