Earlier this morning I asked for fanart suggestions on Twitter, and RagDoll4T9 suggested the version of Krystal seen in the demo of Dinosaur Planet, from before they changed it to Star Fox Adventures. So here's that version of Krystal having eaten the other version of Krystal!
(Of course, the best version of Krys is my wife, but she spells her name different.)
Ask me questions on my Curious Cat! Feel free to ask questions to either me or one of my characters.
If you're so inclined, I'd much appreciate it if you'd buy me a coffee!

I do wish I could see into a timeline where DP came out as intended to see what happened, even if it just ended up being another cult classic collect-a-thon like many others of the time. Likely getting no sequels, or possibly a Nuts & Bolts-esque one about 10 years later before going dormant again.
That said, as someone largely neutral to the character, I think Starfox needs Nintendo to get their act together more than anything currently within the franchise or its canon being the problem. As you mentioned in another reply, she was removed from Zero, but it was still an awful game (even beyond control issues). Plenty of other games with janky gameplay/poorly written characters have been redeemed (see: Metal Gear's Raiden going from one of the most hated MGS characters to one of the more popular), but they require a clear direction and passion from the creators, and I'm not convinced Nintendo has either, at least for this particular franchise.

That was a bit long winded, so I should probably shorten it: I think DP might've been better as a stand-alone, even if that meant having to live as an obscure cult classic. Also, I think Starfox's biggest problem is Nintendo making the games awful, more than anything regarding the canon or characters.
My last comment was a bit poorly worded, so I hope you don't mind me deleting and replacing it with a better worded one:
To be completely fair, I do get where this person is coming from: Krystal showed up at the time when the series arguably started its downfall, so it's easy to latch onto her as a source. I probably would not have said anything if he just said that many saw her as a harbinger of the series' downfall, because that is 100% understandable for the reason I just mentioned. However, blaming her for the fall feels like it's ignoring the issue that caused the problems to begin with, that being Nintendo having no real direction, or possibly even passion for the IP. That is what I feel needs to change before anything can really improve with the franchise.

I actually had a similar thought. Again, I haven't played the games myself so I don't have an informed opinion, but it seems like saying the existence of a particular character is what killed the franchise is very unlikely, especially when the main reason that I haven't played a Star Fox game since 64 is because none of the new ones that came out sounded like Star Fox games.
you should do that other female dog character who's name i don't know because ive never played starfox but saw Asanaman make some pics with her oh wait i just googled it her name is "Fay" also ngl i like both versions of Krystal the same yeah yeah i know im not allowed to have that opinion but i love having NUCLEAR takes

DP KRYSTAL: (burps out necklace) I thought I took off all her garments.
FOX: Err, who are you and where is Krystal? Why are her clothes lying on the ground... why is your belly so huge and... is someone... moving inside?!
DP KRYSTAL: Mhm (pats her belly)
XD
Even though I am a big fan of Star Fox Krystal this picture is really fun:)
