FBA - St. Paul Mayors (Throwback Logo 1961-1984)
St. Paul was the first location of the Mayors FBA team when the league first started in 1961 (back when there were only 6 original teams). In both the team's and the league's inaugural season, the St. Paul Mayors won the championship. They won 2 more in between 1961 and 1984, leaving for Huntsville, AL in 1984.
Then Healey Davis joined their team, won 5 consecutive championships with them, and in 2009, Xavier Knutten, AKA Zip-Nut, lead the team against a fierce Stanislaus Thrust squad led by phenom Buck Hopper. The Mayors won in 7 games, tying the Montana Howlers for most league-wide championships with 9.
A little history lesson brought to you by
mrinitialman asking me to change the team name on the current logo to "St. Paul" for an original Mayors logo for the FBA site. Never satisfied to settle for less than realistic though, I decided to simplify the logo and make it look like a logo that might have been introduced to a brand new basketball league in 1961. If you've seen the old NBA logos of the 50's and 60's, you know where I was going with this. ;)
And as a result, the FBA gets a little bonus piece of history. ^^

The awesome in this picture is at EPIC levels!! I love it! Great job recreating a 1960's team logo, with limited palette and muted colors and everything! This is a totally believable logo that must now be canon! :) Thank you for making this!!
Though as commissioner, I mystery reluctantly correct you... There were only six original teams in the FBA. The 1961-1962 FBA season had the Santa Cruz Clefs, the Tucson Demons, the St. Paul Mayors, the Baltimore Spirits, the Plymouth Taproots and the Biloxi Mudpuppies, if my memory serves right.

Correction: 6 original teams. St Paul Mayors, Tucson Demons, Santa Cruz Clefs, Biloxi Mudpuppies, Plymouth Taproots, and Baltimore Spirits. Howlers joined in 1968 and the Firestorm in 1970.
While the Alphas (then the Hamilton Mariners) were also around in 1961, they were part of the Great Lakes Basketball League, joining the FBA in the 1980 expansion.
