...And back again.
Yes, Koopus has returned- from returning, from my return... Must I go on? I guess that doesn't make sense... But I've come back so many times now...
Not gonna allow myself to linger on that though. I've got this series finished, though, that's... Good. I guess... Except I should've done it weeks ago- Ah! Lingering! Mustn't do that- ...Moving on.
This was originally going to be my half of an art trade with
CalexTheNeko who drew me a lovely series in which I turn into a little bunny rabbit. Very fun.
That was three months ago. A lot of things have intervened. Calex even had a birthday, I hoped this image could serve as something of a belated (to an extreme worthy of severe punishment) birthday present. Sooooo... Yeah.
For Boltro it was a movie, for Calex it's a plushie! Whoo!

The attic was not a place Calex usually liked to go, it was musty, smelly, and worst of all- dark; very, very dark. And scary. (Even with his keen cat night vision, he still didn't like it.)
Now, Calex was no coward, but he couldn't lie to himself, he was scared, but also, as cats often are and especially for him, he was curious. He gulped, staring up into the black hole in the ceiling, then allowing his eyes to travel down the old retractable ladder that had unfolded with the door. With a deep sigh that ruffled his whiskers, Calex began to climb. It was an arduous task, the stair-like rungs were spaced more for a full-grown fur rather than one of a much younger variety, like himself. This information only served to make Calex more curious, what were the grown-ups hiding up here?
In a much shorter time than Calex would have liked, he reached the top,for a moment he just stared at the darkness, like a solid barrier between his world and some forbidden, secret realm, then he pushed through it. Instantly his sensitive feline nose was attacked by the smell of "old things", musty blankets, rolled up rugs, moth-eaten clothes and books, all combined into that single distinctive smell. Now he was up here, Calex realized that it wasn't as dark as he'd previously surmised. There were a couple windows in the far wall that were leaking dusty sunlight in long smoky bands that radiated to give dim outline to the rest of the items in the space. Most of the corners of the room were shrouded in shadow though, so the attic space seemed much, much larger than it really was. To Calex it was amazing, the sights and smells were new and exciting and also terrifying. He hoisted himself into the loft, and began to look around.
His hyperactive imagination invented terrible visions looming in the darkness around him with each creak of a floorboard and groan of the old house. Rife with nervous excitement, he began exploring; there were all sorts of strange and forgotten objects here. There was an unfriendly-looking bodice mannequin dress-form with half its stretched canvas fabric missing, exposing the wireframe underneath. Next to it was a cloth covered bird-cage made of time-blackened brass, (Calex took a look under the covering even though he knew no bird could possibly be inside). There were liberally taped, messily labeled boxes stacked to the sloping ceiling everywhere.
After a few minutes snooping, Calex began to get bored, he was sort of expecting to find some kind of hidden treasure, or at least something shiny... He was turning to go when an object caught his eye. It was a gleam of bronze from the very back of the room. abandoning a stack of dusty dictionaries and photo albums, Calex stealthily drew nearer. He saw what had produced the eye catching glint. It was a massive trunk. Situated half in the spotlight from the window and half in shadow. The bronze latch was what had created the shine.
Feeling slightly disappointed, Calex approached the trunk. Unless this was a treasure chest... He was starting to feel this trip to the attic had been a waste of time. The metal work on the trunk was pretty unremarkable, apart from the latch there was only heavy black iron trimming. The most decorative part of it was the latch, Calex squinted at it. It had been delicately shaped into a daffodil. He ran his padded paws over it, it was warm, probably from hours in the sunlight Calex reasoned. He flipped open the latch, it clicked in a satisfyingly loud way. Calex lifted the lid, with some difficulty due to its weight, and peered in. He expected the insides to smell bad, but the fragrance he found instead was surprisingly free of mothballs, dust, and mildew. It was a pleasant smell, and so familiar, so incredibly, wonderfully, maddeningly familiar.
It was a treasure chest indeed.

Not particularly proud of that narrative either... Can you say... booooooring?
Yes, there is AR in the image, it's subtle, but there IS AR.
Calex's fursona is usually pretty young, only about six years old- But I got permission to make him a little older for this, he's about 12 in the pre-AR image.
Hopefully this is satisfactory Calex, you've been a great friend so far, and always cheer me up.
Odin is up next!

First off, let me start by welcoming you back...again >.> *blushes but gives the little koopa a very welcoming hug* And please don't worry about your absences. Sometimes, they are needed to get things in proper order in the real world, and if you need them, do not worry about how it will offend people: We know you keep promises, and try your very best, so don't feel that you're betraying anyone by disappearing points a time. Though, with that said, I will admit that I have sent a few PMs your way, just to check on how you were, as well as other people doing the same. We do worry about you, but we don't feel like you did this in spite of us or anything. We care about you, Koopus *patpats shelled back*
But you're right, we should not linger on the bad, lets focus on the good, and boy you have produced some excellent work! Calex's picture shows your continued improvement and familiarity with colors and inking, as it certainly "pops" when Calex finds his precious treasure, radiating innocence and joy under the sunlight and magical influence (and I notice you do approach these regressions with a different style of energy: Boltro's was a gentle spots of billowing white light, while Calex's seems to spark with a light orange flame-like aura, very VERY nice effects, by the way). Calex, both before and after regression look so happy of their find, though of course, regressed Calex is very adorable, but then I always had a soft spot for kittens (My house has seen many a cat in its time >..> Expensive yes, but totally worth having such companions...wolf with cats, go figure, huh?). Your addition of narrative is always a plus, and it shows how much it can add and improve to an already excellent picture (and not boring at all, so stop that ;p *fuzzles your already fuzzed up hair*). In fact, much like how you approached this picture differentiates from Boltros, the narrative is quite different from the multi-cast piece of Boltros, and has that almost fantasy aspect pat down. Overall, it works together perfectly and I hope Calex enjoys this. Top notch work, Koopus!

Excuse me for a moment.
SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Okay now right where was I?
Oh right!
Thank you very much! *glomps the Koopa*
You know what's actually really funny? I think the first stuffed animal I ever owned like when I was a wee baby was a bunny. o.o;
Actually now I'm wondering where that ran off too. I don't think I would have given something like my first stuffed animal away.... Especially since I can't seem to give away the others..... Hmmmm this calls for... A JOURNEY INTO THE ATTIC!
Though you know, I had always pictured myself with black paw pads. :/ After seeing this, I might have to permanently change them to pink. Same with the nose. The cuteness is overwhelming! Yes. Yes. Yes.
From this day forward Calex has pink pawpads and nose!
