Big birb heading into battle, Sora riding on her shoulder~
Also quick question, is Garudamon female or male to you? The build makes me think male but the female voice leds me to believe otherwise.
Probably also because Biyomon feels clearly female to me so a gender-change after the evolution doesn't really make sense to me.
Anyway, big buff birb~ Also somewhat properly sized for once. I'm fine with her size in the series but it's also extremely inconsistent
in each episode, like sometimes Sora is as big as hear entire head and at other times she holds the whole group of children comfortably in both
hands, whatever is convenient in the moment. Overall she's gotten smaller since the first Digimon Adventures series though I feel.
Well, hope you like it

I also feel like they shrank her compared to the first Adventure. The sizes of all the Digimon have fluctuated over time, it would seem. The size difference you have here is what I see as ideal and in line with how I usually think of this bird.
And in Savers season 5 they used male identifiers for when that Biyomon was interacting compared to Sora's bird line.
It depends on which Garudamon is on screen. Here I will say she and her.
And here I will also say I want to ride on those shoulders too! Or get comfty in that hair and tucked away for the night.
At least this season has had Sora ride on Garudamon's foot like how she would on Birdramon's for traveling at times.
And yes, I do like it very very much so~

I do remember the English voice actress did try to deepen her voice because she was like, 'is that a male, oh, that's definitely a guy?" when she saw Garudamon the first time. i personally think, gender doesn't really matter much to a digimon since they tend to shift to so many different body types. And yeah, I'm also annoyed with how the digimon aren't always to scale either.
Regardless, I really like this piece! Thanks for sharing!! :)

Garuda is male in original myth and digimon don't have sex according to Renanom. A sexchange is nothing bad, logically is not ok without context but, since they dont wanna put the lgbtq+ theme in so much highlight (like netflix?...) it'd be ok to me.
Garudamon felt like female to me too, even tho' I should/would re watch the X-antybody version in "X-evolution" that was a cool version too

I like macro gals, so that's what I assume a character is when it's left unanswered.
There's a more official answer about Garudamon that's kind of depressing, but also kind of typical for kid's shows of the era: The English version of the show changed the gender of Hawkmon's various versions so the later merge with Gatomon to become Silphymon wouldn't make the kids start asking questions about gender blending.
The regulations from Broadcast Standards & Protocols in those days were so obnoxious that a lot of cartoons made jokes about them. As Beetlejuice said when he learned about them on his cartoon, "BS & P? Can you even say that on a kid's show?"

When it comes to a Digimon's gender, I figure they don't have to be very binary (forgive the pun) about it.
Instead, I see it more like character creation in some video games where you have a bunch of options and then a bunch more sliders to adjust things however you wish. When they're born, they get to set up their forms to whatever they want, and there's nothing that says they have to be all the same on anything. When you literally change forms more often than your partner changes clothes, why not give some forms different traits to match different moods?
Also, that is the correct size. I recall getting a hold of a translated copy of the first Digimon manga, and in one panel (evil) Leomon shows up that huge. I was sad he didn't get to stay like that. I mean, he was terrifying, yes, but having a huge lion friend that could literally just drop you in a pocket and walk off would be kind of cool, too. That mix of scary and awesome is important.

I do like Garudamon to be as big as possible, so I like that you went with this size.
And I think it is canon in Digimon that their size is inconsistent. There are factors that can effect the size they end up in every time they digivolve and some of them can control it to a degree.
