Part of the reason this Argonian is a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield, is due to his above average stature and musculature giving him a serious physical advantage.
People that understand Argonian life and development will simply assume that it's a result of his particular Hist that grants Zanathez such an imposing figure, but most might think some odd magic is at play. Some even assume Daedric magic, considering his height - 6' 8'' - is pretty much identical to a dremora.

Yes, I am using a mod that turns all of Skyrim furry. Because humans and elves are boring to me. XD
