My entry for the Divine Design contest for the summer Extravaganza on PonyIsland.
Since the contest is over I felt I could post this here now. ^^ I didn't win anything but that's all right, there were over 100 entries and there were some amazing ones out there. ^^
Trista the Merciful
Aspects: Sadness, Grief, and Balance
Dogma: Trista is compassionate goddess who deals with the grief of mortals. When a mortal loses something meaningful and close to them, Trista sends forth the feelings of sadness in order to maintain the balance of sadness and happiness in the world. Despite being associated with something negative in a mortal's point of view, she is revered as a goddess. Trista does feel compassion to the pain she gives others and because of this, she does take pity on some mortals. She has been known to delay the feeling of grief on certain mortals who have suffered enough in that very moment. The time at which her powers are strongest are in the hours of night, where the darkness and silence allows those to reflect on what has happened to them, allowing their grief to envelop their mind and thoughts.
She often takes the form of a king cheetah and she commonly wanders about at night. The tear marks from her eyes are always pitch black and reflect no light. Her ears are always downcast and her long flowing mane often hides part of her face to mortals. All of these things symbolize the constant sadness that flows within her body.
