Veneca of THIS universe didn’t have the greatest time growing up. Her species, known as ‘Geo-Lizards’, were a rare yet heavily farmed species that lived on the outskirts of the UDF controlled galaxies. This distance from any real ‘policing’ district kept the effective enslavement of their species largely undeterred, despite their best efforts. Due to her and her families rather low priority, being only ruby type and not something like the gold and diamond type geo-lizards, she was able to make it through her childhood largely unscathed, though not completely.
Her colony of geo-lizards was still constantly raided by bandits looking to ‘farm’ their species for their resources, geo-lizards able to produce the gems on their bodies no matter what type of ‘food’ they ingested, just so long as it was something of which they could in fact consume. Therefore, many of her brethren were constantly being taken and enslaved as ‘resource farms’ for all manner of business, having a constant supply of rare gemstones and other materials was very important for a lot of industries. And while once again, she and her ruby kind weren’t often specifically targeted, they still tried their best to help their brethren whenever another attack would occur. This is how she gained a lot of her general combat prowess, her young years focused entirely on just trying to exist and hunker down in bunkers, turning into a heavy desire for her to be ‘strong enough’ to prevent all this fear and constant taking of her species. This desire only grew as she gained a friendship with a diamond geo-lizard, by the name of Cassy. This lizard among others were harbord in the ruby lizard bunkers, for hopes that if ever the pirates got that far into the colonies, that they wouldn’t notice the few within the crowd of rubies, and leave them alone. Only a few of the youngest were allowed to do this though, and as they both got older, eventually Cassy had to go and stay at the diamond lizard bunkers, one that was often a lot more frequently breached.
So as young as she possibly could, which was rather young for geo-lizards due to just how often the older ones where taken, she enlisted in the small combat regimens of her home colony, to do her best to make sure that her friend was able to stay safe. She did incredibly well too, able to keep many pirate incursions at bay during her time there, but, as she and Cassey began to get older, the technology around them, and against them, continued its always upward improvement as well.
And eventually, an incursion couldn’t fully be stopped, and they made off with many of the diamond geo-lizards...prime of which for Veneca, was Cassy.
She had tried to stand up to them once the bunker was breached, trying to buy time for someone to get back to them, but she didn’t have nearly the training or the skill. She was knocked down and taken with many of the others before the combat unit could spare anyone to go back and push them out again, and this left Veneca absolutely heart broken.
Geo-lizards didn’t have a habit of returning after they were taken, many used and abused for the remainder of their rather long life spans. Veneca didn’t want this life for any of her kind, but especially for Cassy. So, she left her combat unit behind, said goodbye to her parents and remaining associates, and made her way to the UDF, determined to get her way in so she could track down all the pirates that captured her people, or at least get into a high enough position so she could get the information to do so.
While by this point she was rather ‘old’ for free geo-lizard standards, she was still quite young and idealistic at this point overall. So the UDF accepted her rather quickly after she blasted through all their entrance combat tests with flying colors, and only struggling on anything that had to do with ‘general UDF history’, something they could very easily overlook for someone with her skills. While it took a bit of doing on her end, after she joined, and showed off her prowess, as being one of the only geo-lizards ever to come out and do so, she was able to get backing quickly for her own personal endeavors, something many would take multiple years to do thanks to otherwise stringent bureaucracy. She was able to be a part of many raids on various pirate locations throughout the coming years she was in service, one raid in particular, finally yielding a result she was desperately hoping for for all of that time.
That result being them finally finding Cassy, among many other diamond geo-lizards, within one of the premium farms that particular pirate group had been hoarding. The reunion was luckily heartfelt, Cassy having held out hope all that time, even as she was constantly worked over, that she and all the others would one day be saved. While the rest of the geo-lizards up to this point often had to go through myriads of therapy to work their mindsets out of the constant cycle of ‘farming’ and abuse, Cassy had held out just long enough to keep her psych largely intact, though these events would still haunt her for quite a long while to come. She still stayed in the geo-lizard rehabilitation camp for her respective group though for a while, doing her best to help the rest of her entrapped comrades to get back to as state of at least slightly being ok. During this, the UDF psychologist there found her skills and in-depth knowledge to be very helpful, and offered her the position of doing this largely full time for her species, and others after a bit more training. Cassy happily accepted, and thanks to flying the colors of the UDF banner, she has remained largely untouched while performing her duties, happily keeping in contact with Ven and the two meeting up on holidays when they can.
A good thing to point out would be what the UDF did after they would rescue the geo-lizards. While some with the mind to where allowed to return to their far reaching colonies, many more were a lot more ready to start and maintain colonies a lot closer to UDF enforced space. While Pirate groups would still target these colonies, the UDF would have a lot more of a stack in keeping these colonies secure and defended, as they themselves partly funded them, so these colonies ended up being a lot safer, and often where migratory destinations for geo-lizards in the far reaching colonies. Cassy herself lives in one of these colonies, when she's not out doing field work, and it’s where they both often meet up during the times her and Ven do so.
The UDF also has a stake in these colonies as they are used for consensual ‘mining’ of the geo-lizards resources, all the lizards that live there having ‘donating’ what resource they can from their persons each month as a form of ‘tax’ upon them. Most of them gladly give whatever they can this way, as they themselves get to remove the resource properly, and naturally, versus having it forcibly removed, and they get to continue living lives while doing so. This helps the colonies continue to benefit the UDF, and helps keep their defense of them high. They’ve also taken to refining some of their refinable resources too, some becoming jewelry or craftsman, or having various melting down ore factories that make the various refined metals and resourced right at the colony for easy export.
With all this finally established and in place, and Cassy at the very least once again free, Veneca finally found it time to focus on climbing the ranks proper in the UDF. One step of that, was joining the team she currently exists in now, as the team's engineer. Said team is headed by Captain Tatiana, Morgana's sister and rival. And her activities upon it are taking her long years of both combat and weapons tech experience, and making and maintaining the teams arsenal. She is still a rather heavily brooding sort, but one that still finds comfort in those that she enjoys the company of. Her main goal still is to keep her species in the forefront of people's minds, and to keep her home colonies safe.
But, thanks to the various missions she’s been placed on, and a lot more of the laid back nature and aura of the team, she’s been a little more lax in her efforts. This has, behind her notice, resulted in the UDF’s priorities reshuffling, with the re-acquisition of taken geo-lizards continuing to move further and further down the list, along with the defense of the outer colonies. Especially as the closer colonies continue to thrive and grow, and requiring more and more resources to keep defended and protected.
Ven is largely oblivious to this re-prioritization though, and she and Cassy largely just believe that their efforts are just working effectively. So, she continues her work, developing high tech weaponry that uses her own ruby crystals to power it, this weaponry only being distributed to those of her team, and to other high ranking officers that request it/prove they won’t try and abuse it. She knows if such weaponry moves to the widespread market, her own ruby brethren will become much more a target throughout the galaxy, so she tries to keep it under wraps as much as possible. She still makes it though, as it allows for her to have an extra use in ‘restocking munitions’ amongst the team, and she figured someone would have to come up with this stuff eventually, might as well be a geo-lizard, so that the users of the tech have to actually care.
And now that is her main role among Tatiana's Team, her mind now finally able to relax, a little bit, thanks to her tireless efforts. And while she doesn’t really get into the petty squabbles between her team and their ‘rival’ Star Frog group, she has gained a bit of a rivalry with the Frog’s “Black Rabbit”, a rivalry that she nor said Black Rabbit ever seem to elaborate on. The two having crossed paths at some point previously, and now, seem to find it fit to keep trying to one up/get one over on one another. And they never seem to ever get to an even ‘score’...Annnd yes, I'm making yet another Veneca x3 or rather me and
FriskyLittleDevil did! I wanted to have a character that fit into his Starfrog's universe, and we both came to the conclusion that Veneca would be the most apt choice, with her general form able to fill a particular niche within the separate team team of Tatiana's, unlike most of the rest of my cast who already had their 'archetypes' otherwise filled in > 3 <. So! decided I'd also craft a nice 'little' story for her, figured I'd just post it all here instead of making a seperate origins cause its not thatttt long I don't think >//>; if you want a general summary can just read what our initial outline for her was over at Frisky's post, but if you want a lot more in depth look at her, read above! :3 (if you haven already xD). Overall though, reallllly enjoy how she looks with her outfit and all >//> and am excited to see what shenanigans she gets up to in the world of the Starfrog-verse! (also Frisky once again read through, edited and approved this story as well! just so you know >//>; )
