I did some studies of Ghibli backgrounds for this one because I really wanted to hit that lush, magical vibe of those kinds of environments and the creature was a good fit for it I thought!

I love everything about this piece, but that use of the butterflies is probably my favorite part. Seeing them perching in the mane is a phenomenal touch. It's somehow subtle with the hues you used, and that -in addition to the butterflies in the air surrounding the elk- seems to allow for a fantastic cohesion between them and the elk. Absolutely gorgeous.
