The canine took one more bite of her sandwich, intending to box up the last third or so to take home for a later snack into the afternoon. She washed the bite down with her last sip of tea and set her cup to the side. As they chatted, the waiter returned with two small boxes and the check, which Carol set aside with her card, soon to be picked up.
Turning up the corner of her smile, the shepherd felt a little blush in her cheeks. "Well I should have hoped not..." She lowered her voice when she saw the waiter approaching out of the corner of her eye. "I know you've been checking me out... I just didn't know where your focus had been." With a happy squint, the canine continued to tease back at her companion, jokingly adding, "I hope you've been thorough; there'll be a pop quiz later!"
She gave a snicker and dropped her gaze for a moment, boxing up her sandwich. She had obviously been doing the same to her companion, and the more she thought about it, maybe she wouldn't actually mind too much if other's saw them together and caught a pang of jealousy. Carol new that she would in their situation.
"Oh don't worry.." Nico grinned and looked down into her cup, swirling the liquid around while momentarily debating her next words. At this point she felt quite confident that almost anything she'd choose to say would be met with a positive response. The chemistry between these two was surprisingly fun and casual.
Her eyes flicked up to meet Carol's and she leaned forward upon deciding to go ahead with her desired comment, "I plan to the study every inch of the material.. Backwards and forwards."
She took a moment to admire the blush on the pups cheeks before taking her last sip of coffee. Her eyes drifted over the check with the canines card attached and she was hit by another little pang of guilt. While boxing up her own sandwich, she reassured herself that she'd do everything in her power to repay this cutie. "Being thorough is the least I can do to show my appreciation for this perfect little lunch date~.." I just can't get enough of this precious pup.. She's gotten me completely enthralled with her inexplicable Mutt Magic~ ❤️
