Disturbingly common and quite small (about 5t or so as adults and quite slender) No venom at all. They kill their prey by constriction and even as an adult the largest prey you could reasonably give one is a large gerbil or hamster. They make ideal beginners snakes or childrens pets as they are ver hardy little snakes and can take a fair amount of mistakes in care before becoming seriously ill (best not to make mistakes in the first place though).
Docile and inquisitive they are rather agile and will be sliding up sleeves and down shirts. Very very reluctant to bite and easy to handle they come in one of if not THE largest available colour and pattern morphs in the world. Average lifespan is 15 years in the wild but up towards 22 years in captivity.
Hope this helped

Ohhh not venomous! Constrictors!
And yes very common :) One of the most commonly captive bred snakes, one of the first snakes to be captive bred (hence why there's a million color and pattern varieties)
They get to be about 5-6 feet long as adults, minimum tank requirements for an adult is 20gal-long.

I will be! Although I only ship in the continental US and shipping is $45 per box.
I also sell at the all animal expo in wheaton, IL sometimes
It's usually not really worth it to order a single cornsnake baby online unless they are fairly fancy... these guys are all normals/amels/aneries/snows. You can usually find a good breeder that's not /too/ far if there's any decent reptile shows around.
People usually order several snakes from me (I can fit 3-6 babies per box, depending on what box size I get) or get "higher end" morphs... this year the "highest end" ones I'm likely to get are motleys in caramel, butter, anery, or snow flavors...

Oh totally buy in bulk, 6 months supply (or that's how I try to calculate it) and YES chest freezer!! XD
Life was so much better once I got a big perma mouse freezer instead of trying to figure out how to cram them in the kitchen freezer :P
I just put in an order with Rodent Pro. They let me calculate how much space is left in the box and I pretty much fill the last nooks with pinkies since they're the smallest.

I Buy from Honeybrook farm who supply moth of the zoos and rescues/wildlife centres that carry reptiles and raptors in the uk. I like them because no matter where you live the delivery price is the same and the sizes of the rodents are awesome as well as being fairly cheap. The problem is they only deliver to Scotland once a month
There is another company i buy from when i need more and Honeybrooks is not delivering called TSM but they are shit. Deivery is cheaper but the rats are smaller and more expensive. An extra large (ex breeder) rat from TSM is the same size as a medium rat from honeybrooks but TSM charge just over twice the amount (or round about).
Sorry rambling about my hobby again

It's cool, interesting to hear how ya do it on the other side of the pond!
Rodent pro seems to be the cheapest big supplier in America, at least that I've found online. Others are more expensive but I guess they polish their mice more - clean off any poops and individually seal them or whatever. I don't really care about that tho, just the size and quality, and I've been pretty happy with rodent pro!
LOL also I was being naughty and browsing boa constrictors XD I really want a pair or trio one day, ever since handling one my friend has... maybe something like this http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/for.....d.php?t=187299 , get a snow het hypo motley to pair with her or something XD
But there's so many morphs I still don't know! Jungles are cool too, plus I really like those super sunglow/lipstick albinos :B
But really I don't need more snakes right now and I don't want to get a Big Snake until I'm in a place I think I'll live in for at least a decade :P

Oh my gosh yes those surinames are gorgeous!!!!
I'm totally confused by all the "columbian" "Suriname" "hog island" etc names though... are those just different localities / strains (kinda like "okeetee" and "miami" corns) or are they considered different species and people will get pissed if you cross them?

what a stunner.
BCA includes boas from bolivia and south brazil but a few breeders and scientists dispute the south brazilian boas classification as BCA and feel they should not be bred with the bolivians

Oh, wow, gorgeous @-@ Aug!
So many snakes, so little time!!
I'm personally not a huge stickler for "purity" but it makes breeding/selling a lot easier if you keep lines straight
I love the wild look too, but I like morphs and hets for breeding - it's so exciting to have clutches / litters with a huge variety, not being sure what you'll get! (and I know, even with normals there's a lot of variety buuuut, hey, I like morphs XD)

I am a stickler for purity myself i like to kep the bloodlines going otherwise you end up like dogs. Everything from a Chihuahua to a great dane, lab and doberman is called Canis lupus familiaris. That's fucked up.
So yeah i do like pure blodlines but i also like hybrids (boo hiss i'm evil) because they produce some stunning snakes but i would never ever breed a hybrid then put that hybrid bloodline into the mix with a pure line.
Hybrid Hots are something i love though.

Make this the so called Gabino Viper
http://hellfirereptiles.com/images/.....hybrid%203.jpg
it's got the length of the rhino the girth of the gaboon and the colouring of the rhino. it's fangs and venom yeild are roughly intermediate between the two of them.
Speaking of gaboon fangs

Yeah I do hate the idea of making hybrids but then repeatedly breeding them back to one species until they just look like that species
it's like, what's the point?
But I kinda see a point if you're trying to introduce a gene... not a big fan but I know with sand boas there's rumors that one of the mutants (either anery or albino, forget which) originally came from some other species... eh, I still like them, and I'm not really THAT WORRIED :B
Holy wow, that rhino viper is crazy!! Them and some of the sunset, etc cobras, make me sorta wish I was into hots XD
And that Gabino is neat too, eeeee!
Hurm, so if buying boa morphs, they're all considered Boa constrictor imperator then?

boa morphs just usually stop at boa constrictor without identifying whether it's imperator, contrictor, amareli or anything else. Plain old boa constrictor.
My issue with breeding hybrids too look like one of contributing species is that someone will sell their hybrid and not bother to tell the person it's a hybrid and that one will eventually get chucked into a purebred gene pool (possibly a well established and hideously expensive one. Imagine if bob clark got passed a borneo bateater (burmese and afrock hybrid) as a weird paterned and coloured retic or burmese morph then introduced it to his stock all fucking hell would break loose and bob would probably go batshit insane with rage)

Yes, exactly. RAH.
I do have creams so those are considered "hybrids" (red rat snake x yellow rat snake, or maybe it's great plains rat snake) but I'm /very careful/ to keep them separate,
There are some creams that have other cornsnake morphs too that I think look cool (motleys and lavenders), but after having some of the stripes I gotta say I know they're established by crossing back to corns so they're like, what, 75% corn / 25% emoryi or usually a lot more corn, and it's like... what is that!
I sort of want to get an emoryi to establish some 50/50 versions of those morphs but uhhhg, need so many snakes to do that properly @-@ at least an unrelated pair of emoryi and then an unrelated pair of corns with the proper morphs (hmm, motley and stripe amel lavenders, maybe, heh)

you have lost me.
I'm not big on morphs at all. I have no clue about them i have always been into snakes for everything BUT the colouring lol.
I think creams are corn snake and great plains though when i bought my first cornsnake A little silver and black one (charcoal i think) i was told that all it does is make them chunkier and slightly more nippy. Wasn't told if they were called creams or anything.
I miss my wee charcoal

Oh my gosh, have you seen one of these before? I haven't! http://www.reedysreptiles.com/fulls.....ed%20Brown.jpg but those are pretty... hot tho :P
And WTF, a scale-less death-adder??! http://www.reedysreptiles.com/fulls.....less%20800.jpg
The scale-less snakes are creepy, but man, I kinda want to hold one just to see what it feels like...

I have heard of the specled brown before as it's just a common brown snake with really odd markings.
Psuedonaja means false cobra as these snakes do have the ability to hood but no where near as impressive as actual cobras. (i think)
The scaleless adder however just blew my freaking mind. I want that now

Hurm, I should probably link to the page that I found those photos at and their info! http://www.reedysreptiles.com/captive.htm

Ok a little bit of research later and yes they are true scaleless snakes. A rare mutation apparently. I would think it is caused by repeated genetic selection for breeding morphs as from the few pics i seen not one was of a wild coloured speciemen. Scaleess snakes wold however be marked for death in the wild. Parasite load, overexposure to sunlight, massive sunburn, skin cancer, all the bumps, scrapes and abrasions and such would kill it quickly. As for being scaless well we can only hope that as they have all retained ventral scales that they also have the spectacle scale (clear scale covering the eye) other wise permant blindness is the only resut in the wild.
I think the mutation is caused by over breeding bloodlines for morphs and that the scaleless mutation happens due to scales not forming whils the snake is still in it's embryonic stage.

Yeah, I'm not sure if it's a simple recessive mutation or some kind of compound... I don't think I'd ever want one / want to breed it, it seems like it would be pretty bad for the snake
But I admit they're kinda amazing to look at and I really want to know what they feel like XD
I was wondering about their eyes too... their eyes look okay in the photo but if the scale is gone it'd be very fragile I'd think.

Apparently it is a co-dominant recessive mutation in bearded dragons. Scaleless bearder dragons are produced by breeding two italian leatherbacks. Scaleless beardies are known as silkbacks.
Yeah i would not like to breed them but if i bred snakes and one popped out i would definatly bee keeping it.

I think I hatched twins once (1 more hatchling than I had eggs) but so far, no conjoined twins. I think you have to hatch out 1000s to be likely to get one XP But man, they're cool, if they're healthy! <3 freaks.
OOoo, wild caught mutants, even better!
... I saw something about wild white alligators but it turned out they were just caked with salt or something :P
Otch, this is fun but I need to go to sleep, goodnight!
