yeah, the various sasquatch, bigfoot and yeti were modeled in pop culture after gorillas, after they have been discovered in the '800, more or less like the Loch Ness monster that had all kinds of crazy shapes, until plesiosaurus was discovered and it started looking like a plesiosaurus.
