More from Wotan
I have hesitated in posting this one for a while, as I realised that it is one of those ones that, within the current sociopolitical zeitgeist, is almost guaranteed to be taken out of proper context, and when taken out of said context, is likely to offend some people.
Good thing I'm a cynical Gen-Xer, who is too crabby and crusty to much care, huh?
There are a number of influences in this, but the main ones are all the many demons and ghosts that many of us (myself included), carry around with us, even when we realise that we can never hope for any satisfactory resolution for them, no matter what we do... Still, it's harder advice (and all the bitterer for it), every time we're exhorted to "let it go".
Sometimes, when it refers to those, who seriously done us wrong, it burns our souls like acid to allow someone their shining, untainted victory, and our own defeat and humiliation against their betrayal and/or trickery.
Of course, Social Darwinists like to say that everyone gets precisely what they deserve in life, so... (cue up every time that fat-lip, bloody-nosed, younger me was told: 'Suck it up, buttercup.')
It's all the worse, when we have to swallow the bitter pill of realisation of the truth of the statement in Marlon Brando (playing Colonel Kurtz's) moment of 'Diamond Bullet' clarity in his monologue at the end of Apocalypse Now.
(the horror... the horror...)
All of that said, this piece ONLY works in symbolic form, and should not be taken literally (which is out of context)
