Hey guys, it's time for another review of the month.
This time we are taking a trip back to The Big Payback Connecticut since the
revival of the Brand itself. It was highly requested along with some of the older blends, and Matt has delivered. Let's crack into this one!
Room 101 The Big Payback Connecticut Robusto:
Wrapper: Ecuadorian Connecticut
Binder: Mexico
Filler: Dominican Republic (three growing regions)
Pre-Light/Construction:
Nice and clean in appearance, this stick was a bright and shiny example on a return of the classic. The wrapper itself was nice, smooth, and velvety in texture. The band itself was a massive return with the FU Face, but this time at the foot while the text is at the head in a bigger way. The scent was ripe with cedar and white pepper notes. Veins asnd seems were visible, but mainly blended in with the whole construction of the wrapper itself. The pre-slice was loose, but not too snug. Let's light up!
The Burn Part 1:
It was a Sunday and I was at the club. The gang was all there watching Wedding Crashers. Grabbed myself a cup of coffee and sat down to light up. The first few puffs were vibrant in breads notes at first with a bit of light and calm cedar notes to join in. A little bit of a sharp start with a good light to medium tone. Soon, the white pepper notes started to come into play. It's like a spicy party and everyone is invited. So far I am in cigar morning heaven.
The Burn Part 2:
ME and the gang were laughing like hell to the movie at this point. This stick was blending great with my coffee which was a match made in heaven. The bread notes were a bit zesty, like almost a bit of cinnamon zest to compliment my coffee. The pepper notes still remained in the same level while the cedar notes went back and forth. At this point it was still a calm, bit with a toothy tone stick, even for it's size.
The Burn Final:
At this point of the stick the pepper notes started to take a bit of a break to ease the intensity. Everything else simply stayed in their place until the near end. Knowing it was my only day off for work, I cherished this stick for the rest of the way until last draw. The Bread notes made the finish line a smooth taste. I was not only happy to have one again. but looking forward to my next one in the future.
Verdict:
Again, I have to say, that this stick was worth the wait for a revival. Truly a call back to the old school. I would highly recommend this one for a morning breakfast time of the day of any. If your shop does not have Room 101 in them, demand that they bring them.
