The play was mostly a success, though Belle the otter, perhaps overly excited about her starring role, baffled the audience by occasionally interjecting into the script her own enthusiastic stage directions: "Oh, drama! Oh, swoon!" Then too there was the matter of certain inappropriate "Star Trek" references. Admittedly, though, that year's Christmas performance of "Wind in the Willows" is still talked about to this very day.
