Morning Doodle, this time with He-Man doing an interview. I'm old, I know.
But I really hope that they will someday revive the franchise in a way that celebrates the campy charm of the 80s series like SheRa did, instead of making another G-Rated Conan the Barbarian

It's nice to no that I'm not the only one who wishes they would reboot this one. I always thought it was weird how She-Ra was a spin-off of He-Man and they decided to reboot it first. Also, I watched reruns of He-Man, how old are you that thinking about the original He-Man makes you feel old?
The problem with He-Man is that the line of toy and comics had nothing of the camp of the Filmation cartoon, even the movie, is campy by error, not by design. Not even the two cartoon series that came after and tried to be more serious.
The problem is that a lot of fans believe that this is how he-man should be: a mix of Star Wars and Conan the Barbarian that takes itself seriously. And sorry, but that mindset is more often correlated with a patriarchal worldview.
I've heard in a podcast about the possible reboot series "I hope that they won't put here an agenda changing the race of all the protagonists."
Thing that never happened to the She-Ra franchise, that, for being marketed towards girls, never was perceived this way

Netflix is coming out with two He-man cartoons this year: Masters of the Universe: Revelations by Kevin Smith, a continuation of the 80s cartoon, staring Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker, 90s animated Batman/Spider-Man Joker/Hobgoblin) as Skeletor. Second series is a CGI "kid version" reboot.
thank you! I've put the reminder for both of them. CGI He-Man looks like he just popped out from Clash of Clans, and I guess that Revelations will be animated a la Castlevania, it's even marketed as an "anime" series, and the concept art I've seen is way too complex for 2D animation and they will obviously skim away some details. I wonder if this time they will avoid the same errors made by the 90s and early 2000s series, but I guess that with less episodes you have also less time to meander with time-wasting villains of the week
