i dont think ive heard this one before, its very striking. the photo fits well. when the kicks and hats and whatever else are randomly placed, it comes down to the snares to keep the rhythm coherent. it obviously still works without that, but you can do a lot with just a snare on every 2nd and 4th beat
yeee i tend to worry a lot that my songs will come off as repetitive if i do drum patterns with more traditional snare placements (except this one since i ignored that). but some good simple patterns, like you described, boost the feelings and can get stuck in your head all day.
