This is the latter braced back for the ukulele. The braces are carved this way to control the way the back flexes. Carved this way the back with flex more toward the edges and less so in the center causing it to move in a parabolic curve. This would matter more on a curved back instrument but I wanted to practice carving them this way and see how it would effect the tone.
