Is chalk difficult to work with as an art medium? Or is it similar to using dry pastels?

Chalk, charcoal, pastels, etc can be challenging because the tip is sti broad and leaves little room for error, especially since you can't really erase.

I remember using charcoal and dry pastels in high school art class. I agree, they were difficult to use, but with patience they get good results. Oil pastels were a little easier because they could be used like paint with a brush.
