SusanDeer sketch once again. This is Sir Josslyn's mate, Lady Gwladys. She was from a socially prominent Philadelphia family that fell on very hard times. As a result, she had to get a job, at of all places, Minkerton's National Detective Agency. She was very, very good at what she did, becoming one of their better agents.
She was eventually assigned to the Buckhorn residence, and more or less allowed herself to be seduced by Josslyn Buckhorn, in a rarish outbreak of buckhood.
She has to endure his temper quite a bit (see lower right panel), but she gets back at him in many and subtle ways. She diverted her allowance into speculations, and, after carefully paying back all of the debts her father left, has her own money. Sir Josslyn grudgingly accepts that his mate is very, very intelligent. On rare occasions, he even shows pride in it.
Gwladys still retains ties to her hometown -- she even buys the Phillies, at the depths of the 1930s awfulness.
