⦁ Biography: Philomela is one of the many 1/2 mermaids born to Junichiro and Palutena, coming a week in between Susumo and Ptolema. Philomela, like many of her siblings, often gathered whenever her father returned home and had stories to tell of his travels. Despite listening with interest, Philomela initially had no interest in becoming a fighter like her father, but one day found herself picking up a lance to fend off a venomous snake that got too close to the chickens. Philomela put the lance down almost immediately afterward, but had a meeting with her mother, in which she was encouraged to keep it because sometimes fighting is necessary to hold onto the things you love. Taking this to heart, Philomela trained with the lance, but her skill with it wound up placing her in the class of Recruit, a trainee class. Initially, Philomela wanted to stay home and keep training with the lance until she was fully ready. However, a panicked Zosime, who was late getting her bags and weapons packed, accidentally carried her sister off with her and into the Fire Emblem universe where she was enlisted into the Gaia Army (despite her protests that she wasn't ready). As a result, Philomela did not partake in very many training exercises, yet was present when Julie, Shantae, and her father were getting a daily vision telling from Elysia, namely the vision that foretold the coming darkness when she was expected to give a vision foretelling a prosperous day. On one training exercise, that day came when the castle came under siege from the Supreme Forces, backed by the Supreme Archduke's N'Raqi minions. Philomela ran off and hid from her attackers, but they followed and Philomela was saved at the last minute by Juni & Julie before she was escorted along with the rest of her sisters out of the castle before it fell to the enemy. She initially protested that she be sent back home immediately, but upon remembering being told by her mother that sometimes fighting is necessary, she joined the newly formed Gaia Alliance, not only to help retake the castle, but also to build a newer, stronger her. Philomela is about as kind & friendly as one might expect from those raised by Juni. However, Philomela is also rather shy and easily startled. She however, is also lacking in the confidence department in the fact that she often feels she will never live up to the expectations of her elder siblings. She is however, overcoming this issue day by day. Philomela is a big lover of animals and hardly ever eats meaty dishes (She's actually neutral about them), but does not mind a meal consisting of fish every now and then. Being one who is easily startled however, she is not a fan of ghosts. Of any kind. The best at making flower crowns.
⦁ Abilities: As a 1/2 mermaid, Philomela is able to take on her mermaid form whenever she enters the water. In the water, she enjoys a boost to her avoid/dodge, making her trickier to hit. Philomela is the only 1/2 mermaid who had not graduated past the trainee stages and therefor classifies as such at this time. She is of the Recruit trainee class which has access to lances. She has balanced stats and good growth rates in terms of Strength, Skill, Luck, and Defense. Her magic & resistance growth rates are halfway below, but decent enough to play catch up so to speak. As mentioned earlier, her main weapon is lances, giving her an advantage over sword users, but is vulnerable to those who use axes. When she reaches Level 10, Philomela will be able to change into either a Soldier which remains well balanced, Cavalier for extra mobility, or a Knight for the purpose of tanking. But once Philomela makes one of these choices, she can never go back to being a Recruit, but she can use a 2nd Seal to change into either one of the 2 other aforementioned classes for their skills. She starts with the following weapons & skills.
⦁ Bronze Lance: Inexpensive, but low in power. Cannot inflict critical hits, or trigger offensive skills. It has 50 uses.
⦁ Brass Naginata: Inexpensive, but low in power. Grants +1 Defense & Resistance when equipped. Cannot inflict critical hits, or trigger offensive skills. It has 50 uses.
⦁ Training Lance: This simple lance is perfect for training purposes. It has 50 uses.
⦁ Empowering Soul: Philomela's personal skill. Buffs strength, luck, and defense by 2 upon defeating an enemy if not paired with another unit.
