-ahem, this is your commander speaking with an announcement regarding the wing of the ship's layouts that some of you might have noticed by now has been closed.
as you all know we at chain command have recently been forced to include a wide variety of species and races in our crews' numbers as part of a new 'inclusion directive' whi- what's that lieutenant ?

oh no forced is the right term. we never got a say in this and now we have to accommodate every single ship to make sure half of our crew doesn't just die because the ship's air isn't what they're supposed to breathe. it's an organisational nightmare !
for hell's sake we had to close an entire part of the ship and drop its temperature to below minus 20°C because they forced, and i insist FORCED us to welcome a Procellarian in our crew... she DIES if she ever spends a minute at standard temperature ! her skin dislocates and peels off if even one person touches her ! worst one of our ship's engine is in her area because miss is an engineer ! do you know how bad things could get if there's a problem she can't solve ?

Reminds me so much of Space Station 13, where this is very much part of the game. Vox breathe nitrogen and oxygen is toxic to them, plasma men will ignite if they take their envirosuit off, slime type xenobiological hybrids have special concerns if they windup in medbay like some of the most common drugs killing them, and so on. And yes, putting your special needs characters in a mech and changing the environmental controls and gas tank contents is a possible solution, as is changing the atmosphere in the rooms or the entire station.
