Norton Juster, the author of The Phantom Tollbooth passed away this past week.
That book is one that may have saved my life, and I continue to come back to it again and again. So it's only fitting of me to set up a little tribute to the man and all his great words of wisdom. Using my favorite character from the book, of course.
I tried to make my Tock look a little like a cross between Jules Feiffer's illustration, and his appearance in Chuck Jones' flawed-but-inspired movie version, because it gave Tock such a perfectly steady, reassuring and comforting voice, just like I always imagined he'd have. Everybody should have a watchdog like Tock.
Farewell and thank you Mr. Juster.

I deeply love this book and love going back to it often (and I admit I do love the movie even though Juster hated it). Thank you so much for doing this. Absolutely wonderful and beautiful
And God I always wanted to cuddle Tock and hold him *sighs*
(Though to be perfectly honest, my deepest crush was on the Humbug, who was one of the many inspirations for Royce)
