Nice! I have a tip so when you trace off your traditional art it looks a Lil bit better. If you use layers, you could either make the picture later invisible or rub it out, so you can get a nice clean finish with your digital part! (that's if the program u use can do that)
Backgrounds... I'm just starting to teach myself to make good backgrounds, but I really just put a layer underneath all the others and colour it the way I want it. I can't teach u backgrounds like city streets and amazing things, but tutorials of how to can help.
