I've been trying to work out how to draw a nice 3/4 profile view of a feline anthro and having a bit of trouble along the way.
Today I did a 3/4 profile self portrait and worked out a few things that helped me sort of get the hang of it.
So here's a little tutorial showing what I've learnt.
It's not perfect, but it seems to work fairly well for me.
Hopefully it can be of some use to someone.
1. Draw a circle
2. Divide the circle in half horizontally and vertically
3. Draw the eye shapes sitting on the horizontal line, the outside of one eye touches the edge of the circle and the ourside of the other eye touches the middle line.
4. Using the curve of the distant eye, make an S shape to define the edge and front of the nose. I don't have an exact landmark for that, just experiment a bit and find what proportions work well for you.
5. Draw in the rest of the muzzle and jaw. The far edge of the muzzle doesn't stick out much past the edge of the nose.
6. Add the ears.
7. Clean up and detail.
