Today I wasn't out for photography, I was in fact taking some friends on a tour of the mountains where I do the majority of my grand landscapes. Today was a bad day for that, clouds descended down onto the mountains obscuring the views of the large landscapes. Now, for large landscape viewing it's terrible, however, it gives you the opportunity to capture unique perspective shots through the woods. I decided to take my time and shoot a small scene, this twisted tree jutting up from the ground, defiantly in the face of the high winds. Indeed, once you begin getting up in elevation the winds create a stunning landscape of twisted and gnarled trees. Adding the late winter, early spring condition of the forest, it creates an eerie scene.
