Service History:
There were seven ships in the class: Mars Ultor, Iupiter Tonans, Righteous Lightning, Hell is Coming, Hammer of the Gods, Retribution, and Devastation. They were added to the Fleet almost immediately, with only a minimal shakedown cruise to determine how they acted and whether their weapons would work. The first operation was against planetary fortifications on Shenjin, burrowed into a mountain range. Mars Ultor and Hammer of the Gods both expended twenty rounds from their mass drivers, turning the base and part of the mountain range it was hiding under into molten slag. The crater has since filled with snowmelt to create a very large lake.
Markus ensured that word got around about these ships, and the sight of one in orbit over a rebel planet was sometimes all it took to get the Emperor’s opponents to the bargaining table – if not to surrender outright.
A religious sect, The Church of the All, began a wave of terrorist attacks in an attempt to overthrow Markus and establish a theocratic government. Declaring that “there should be no gods but me,” Markus concentrated his forces over the sect’s base on the planet Sanctuary. The monitor Righteous Lightning obliterated the sect’s base, but a traitor aboard the ship succeeded in detonating the ship’s entire nuclear arsenal, destroying Righteous Lightning and three of its five escorting destroyers.
After Markus’ death, the new Terran Confederate Union and the Terran Colonies divided up the old Imperial Fleet, and the Colonies were given the six remaining monitors. Devastation and Hell is Coming are held in reserve to provide spare parts to the other ships, which are still on active service.

Oh yes, all the better to not go mad/have a mutiny. And modular where practical to better fit whoever will be using the rooms/area. (since there are several sizes he may have to accommodate https://www.furaffinity.net/view/38289370/ )
