Orion Nebula (with Horsehead nebula, Fire nebulae, and M7...
Went to the mountains this weekend to get some premium dark skies (at least as much as I can on the east coast) and attempt some deep space astrophotography. The only thing I'm missing from this photo is the Witch Head Nebula and I would essentially have Barnard's loop. However, I wanted to get as close to the Orion nebula as I could, which meant I could only really get these 4. I'm pretty happy with this considering it's my first ever attempt at photographing a deep space object (DSO). Honestly, when the image of Orion appeared on my screen during the first test shot, I was overjoyed. :3

Thanks, man. It's not an easy form of photography. You can't just go into your backyard and photograph the sky and, even if you can manage to go to a dark sky location (I had to drive 4 hours just to get to class 3-4 site and that's about as good as it gets here), you'll need a tracker if you want to capture a decent amount of detail. Even still, the conditions have to be right (clear skies, high transparency, a clear sight line of the target) I was very fortunate that everything lined up during my short stay. I'm still not sure how much more astrophotography I will do (for me, it takes a lot of time and money to get these sort of shots), but I do want to do more and can't wait until my next opportunity to photograph another DSO. :3
That's a fantastic effort! I see, many things must be considered and that's why I'm here praising the capture you've made :3 I'd say I'm also aware of what prevented me from taking at least decent photos. Being a kind of person who digs into subject, however I decided to give up on it and put my energy into a diffrent field. Watching stars with naked eye is still great for me x3 Oh, and also tracking the satellites and space debris! :D
