“Being utterly charmed, I’m sure!”

Why yes... I DID go out of my way to come up with and design an old man boyfriend for Jonathan Muddlemore. And no, I am not looking for criticism on my life choices.

A lot of my decision there was from how pretty revolutionary Muddlemore seemed to be for his times, as well as I think-- if I were to modernize the cartoon-- I think that would make an excellent discussion for bringing up 'hey, we done donked up and there's still a lot of racial biases we need to work through'. Heck, many states were still catching up with changing segregation laws when the Funky Phantom was airing. Not to mention the Stonewall Riots. Both characters would have some of their own internalized homophobia-- at the very least, fear of rejection-- to work through.
But, a lot of that is me thinking from a story point of view, aha. I am glad you like his design. I recalled there was an episode when Muddlemore called an old woman 'a pretty young thing' and a lot of that really got me into this idea of the Funky Phantom being attracted to older living people. It was a silly thought that spiraled out of control, for sure!
