For a long time, I've been working on trying to come up with a 3D model of my OC Odon. I think I am finally pretty close with this fellow. Particularly for the head design, I did start with a static model of a cobra, but other than that, it's pretty much all my own work: the rigging, the texturing, the addition of the arms (and more arms, though not shown in this image), and the upcoming extra heads took quite a while to get right. I have to say, I think I'm pretty happy with how he's come out so far, though. It's been good to really start to see something which is exactly what Odon should look like coming out of the modelling work.
There's another model I'll be sharing at some point, that one created entirely from scratch without any 3D reference (though did have some reference images I was basing the beast on), just need to get some better texturing on him for this sort of render. I've also decided to do a bit of an ongoing comic involving the snake here (though textured a bit differently, so not actually Odon himself). 7 pages are done now, and I'll probably start posting some this coming weekend.

I have to admit, I am really thankful for Substance Painter, and the nice procedural tools so you don't end up having to paint things scale by scale. I was able to use displacement to drive a procedure, then only worry about details.
The rigging, though... That was more of a challenge, and there are still some places I need to fix up the weight painting. They're mostly small details around the fingers, so not overly noticeable.
